In addition to the personal choreographies of Pole Art finalists that are based on their own professional dance backgrounds and artistic views, a number of performances will be creations of acclaimed Finnish and Swedish – mostly non-pole - choreographers:
Katja-Maria Taavitsainen is a Finnish contemporary dancer and choreographer who graduated from Theatre Academy Helsinki (Teatterikorkeakoulu) in 2010. She has received popular and critical acclaim for her work as the choreographer of Gruppen Fyra; she is also the founder of Pretty Bruises, an ensemble of freelance artists. Katja-Maria is creating a choreography for the showcase performance by Anne Laakkonen and contemporary/show dancer Jan Nyberg for Pole Art.
